The care I received from Sunny was even better than I expected. Having Sunny as my doula not only made the labor less frightening but also increased my confidence overall as a new mom. She has such positive and calm energy and her feedback was a huge support. During labor she spent the night with us at the hospital and ensured me what I was doing was normal and healthy. My husband felt so relieved and comfortable working together during labor and the early days postpartum and we both feel your care was top notch. I would recommend using Sunny as a doula no matter what type of labor experience you are hoping for.

I hired Sunny as our doula as I really wanted to experience a natural birth. After a 48 hour labor (and too many medical interventions) with my first, I wanted to give my body a chance to birth naturally and if possible, without medicinal and medical intervention.
Sunny spent hours of her time consulting with me and my husband in the weeks leading up to my birth to discuss our goals, to create a birth plan and to educate us regarding the various stages of labor. She always left time to listen to our concerns as well. Sunny also urged us to examine our relationship and helped us analyze how our family dynamic would change with the addition of a new baby.
When I went into labor, Sunny came over to our home to assist my husband. She provided invaluable insight regarding comfortable positions to manage my contractions and she instilled confidence that I could do it! She made the educated and experienced decision to head to the hospital after I had labored at home for 4 hours. Once we arrived at the hospital, Sunny was a calm voice of reason and confidence. When I doubted my ability to deliver without drugs, she reminded me of my goals and how far along I was and gently guided me towards what she knew I wanted. Sunny helped keep me focused during pushing and provided tips to maximize effectiveness with each push. I totally attribute the fact that I pushed less than 20 minutes to her!!
Once my daughter was born, Sunny stayed right by my side. Breastfeeding was very difficult with my first but with Sunny’s help this time around, my daughter latched on and fed almost immediately. I couldn’t believe it! This enabled us to establish a wonderful breastfeeding relationship. My daughter was back to her birth weight within 5 days largely due to Sunny’s guidance with breastfeeding.
After getting discharged, Sunny always seemed to make herself available to answer my (many) breastfeeding questions. She made several home visits and was always so quick to respond to my phone calls and text messages. She pushed me to work through the long and sometimes difficult days/nights of breastfeeding and for that I am so thankful!
Sunny’s dedication, expertise and calm but encouraging demeanor helped me to bring our baby girl into the world safely and without medical intervention. She was an asset at my bedside and I would use her time and time again.

Sunny was our doula for the birth of our daughter Ella in 2009. I have been a labor and delivery nurse for 15 years. I know first hand the importance of having support while in labor. Doula supported labors are statistically shorter in duration, and less likely to result in a c-section. I also know first hand how busy the nurses are on the OB unit. Sunny provided a consistency of care that was outstanding. Her encouragement, massage, breathing techniques, and productive labor position suggestions helped me feel confident in labor and advocating for my family. She never left my side!
My husband said “We couldn’t have done this without Sunny!” Ella began nursing right after her birth. Sunny checked her latch, getting us off to a good start, and continues to provide nursing support to this day! Ella is 2 and still nursing thanks to Sunny’s support and guidance. I recommend that all couples strongly consider using a doula for their child’s birth! Sunny is the BEST!

I would not give birth without the assistance of a doula. A doula is there, most of all, for emotional support. Sunny offers emotional support by looking you straight in the eye and saying: “You can do this,” and you believe her. She also complimented my husband and me making him feel confident as well as vital to the entire birth process.
Emerson says he “could not have done it without her. She made me feel like I had a huge role I wanted to participate in. It was the coolest experience of my life…she (Sunny) was great.”
To sum up Sunny’s qualities as a doula: kind, encouraging, confident, gentle, strong, grounded. To put it more directly, Sunny “walks the talk.” She comes through with every bit of the strength and support you expect and need from her. Even now whenever I see Sunny, the feeling that I can do anything remains; her presence still give me peaceful confidence.

When we decided to engage the services of a doula, we were planning on having a natural birth. In the weeks leading up to our due date, Sunny did several home visits in order to discuss our priorities, create a birth plan, and alleviate any anxieties and concerns we had regarding the birth of our first child.
Perhaps most importantly, she initiated valuable discussions about what our lives were going to be like after our daughter’s arrival, helping us sketch out our roles as parents, think about how we could support each other in parenting, and even talking us through incorporating our dogs in our new family life.
When it became clear that our goal of a natural birth was not consistent with our medical situation, Sunny was an important resource as we talked through various options and scenarios. Her expertise and perspective were a wonderful complement to that of our doctor. With her help we were able to better navigate the complex and emotional decisions that we needed to make.
In the end, our daughter was born via c-section. While the role of a doula in a c-section birth may seem irrelevant, in many ways Sunny’s services were perhaps even more valuable in this scenario. She played a vital role in the pre-op preparations, was present in the operating room during delivery, and spent hours with us in the days following delivery assisting us with breast feeding. We also arranged to add postpartum visits to her originally contracted services which were a great help as we recovered from surgery.
We can’t imagine having done it without Sunny’s help, and we highly recommend engaging a doula, even for mothers who anticipate the probability of a c-section birth.

Because of Sunny’s guidance and wisdom, I was able to have the healthy pregnancy and natural childbirth that I wanted. We chose to have our baby in the hospital, and with Sunny’s calming presence and helpful suggestions, I gave birth without any drugs or medical intervention. Sunny provided invaluable support for our family during the first weeks at home with our son, helping me overcome many breastfeeding challenges.
My son is now 9 months old, and we are still happily nursing. I never would have imagined this was possible! The birth of my son was perhaps the most empowering experience of my life, and I truly could not have done it without Sunny’s support. I am forever grateful!

Dear Parents or Future Parents,
If you are considering hiring Sunny Daily as an educator for your childbirth class or as your doula, we think you’re on the right track! We highly recommend hiring Sunny for both of these roles and would do it ourselves over and over again (and we are!). In addition, she informed me (Joni) about our local La Leche League meetings, which I attended and found very educational.
We first met Sunny when we were seven months pregnant with our first baby. We immediately recognized and appreciated her compassion, good sense of humor, and genuine passion for honoring and celebrating pregnancy and birth. Instantly, we felt comfortable and at ease around her because of her very personable approach and decided to hire her to teach our private at home childbirth class.
Sunny was very organized, well prepared, and more than qualified to teach this class. She instilled in us the confidence and reassurance we needed to have a successful and comfortable birth. She provided unwavering and nonjudgmental support and she was respectful and open to allowing us to make decisions that worked best for us. She offered various strategies and provided us with many birth options incase something wasn’t going the way we had planned, and she guided us through many exercises that helped educate and inspire us.
During our weekend long childbirth class, we began to develop a very positive relationship with Sunny and knew that we needed to have her as part of our birthing team. We were planning on having a home birth with a midwife, but we weren’t planning on having a doula present. Not because we had consciously decided not to have one, but because we didn’t really understand the purpose of having one present. After Sunny explained her role as a doula, we decided to hire her, and we are incredibly grateful that we did.
Sunny is very gentle, sensitive and encouraging. She provided us with some basic humanitarian skills that our midwife was lacking. She has a calm presence and her soothing voice and encouraging words instantly comforted me and helped me keep calm and in control during labor. Her passion for her work shines through in the simple way that she interacts with people. She has a wonderful way about her.
Sunny was there with us as we prepared for a joyous occasion, the birth of our first child. Unfortunately, our incredible and healthy pregnancy journey ended when we learned that our baby girl had passed away at 39 weeks in utero due to a true knot in the cord. Ultimately, we ended up giving birth to our stillborn daughter at Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and Sunny was with us every step of the way. She was an incredible support throughout the entire process.
When I went into hard labor, Sunny was there within minutes. Her direct eye contact, soothing voice, encouraging words, gentle touch and smile helped me stay very focused and relaxed. She knew exactly when I needed water, a gentle massage or a change in position, making sure that I was moving along and working with my contractions, rather than against them. The only pain medication I took during labor was Tylenol, and I attribute this to the breathing techniques and positions that Sunny taught us during our class and the constant personal support she provided during labor. She was right by our side during and after birth as we grieved our loss. She went above and beyond, making herself readily available every day leading up to the birth and after the delivery. Her amazing efforts comforted us and helped us cope with our loss. Having Sunny, our doula, present at our daughter’s birth was just as valuable to us as having our doctor and midwife present. We are extremely grateful to her.
Sunny is an absolutely beautiful person who radiates positive energy. She is kind, compassionate, empathetic and personable. She is a gifted doula who is extremely knowledgeable about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. She gives herself fully to the situation at hand. Sunny’s down to earth and optimistic personality combined with her knowledge and experiences with childbirth provided us with much more than being prepared with the practical techniques that we needed for birth.
We would highly recommend Sunny to any woman who is considering having a doula, either for a home birth or a hospital birth. We are expecting our second child in April/May of 2012, and as soon as we discovered we were pregnant, we asked Sunny to join us on our journey once again. We can’t imagine not having her be part of the months leading up to our son’s birth, to be an integral part of labor and delivery, and to support us as a family in the weeks following his arrival.
With much love and appreciation,
Joni and Pedro Amaral

Sunny was our doula for the birth of our first son. My husband and I met her at childbirth classes and we immediately knew we wanted to hire her to be part of our pregnancy and birth. Our meetings started during the last trimester. I was determined to have a natural birth and we discussed in details the way we expected the delivery to be as well as the other possible outcomes. Sunny’s knowledge, reassurance, and support were enormous. I was always afraid of the pain during labor but with all her understanding and ability to comfort and encourage me, I gained confidence that I can have the birth I wanted.
My labor was long and Sunny spent all the time with us giving her positive attitude. Her suggestions and techniques how to manage the pain and make things easier were always carefully and well selected. I know we wouldn’t be able to have a natural birth without her.
Sunny was of great help and support when I was learning how to breastfeed. Her advice was always perfect and straight to the point and she made me feel I was doing everything right.
Her experience and knowledge as a doula, positive and unique personality, the way she handles different situations are valuable and irreplaceable.
If you are considering having a doula on your side we absolutely recommend her and we would definitely hire her again.

“Thank you Sunny so much for teaching this class. Your advice, guidance, and teachings will help us through these next few weeks. (We’d be lost without it!)”- C+JB
“We just finished classes with Sunny, my wife and I can’t find the words to describe how helpful it was… She’s so amazing, we love the way she explains things. I recommend her and her classes to all new parents!!!! Thank you very much Sunny for your wonderful job, keep it up!”

“Sean and I thoroughly enjoyed the class and realize now that we could never have been prepared for childbirth had we not taken it and we are confident that you as the facilitator made the class 1000% times more informative and productive. Headed into labor before the class I sort of assumed you showed up, got into a johnny, and somebody told you what to do until the baby came along…hellloooooo, what was I thinking?!
The content of the class was right on and all very helpful. The way you taught us and gave information was great…handouts were huge (I’ve been studying mine now that D Day is fast approaching). I will definitely be singing your praises to pregnant couples going forward. We feel so prepared for labor, birth and all that can and cannot happen on that day…now we just can’t wait for Baby Boy to get out here to meet everyone!!! ”
