This class is open to all women in their first and second trimesters of pregnancy. We will discuss the foundation of a healthy pregnancy: good nutrition, healthy weight gain, the importance of exercise, and preparing for and enjoying the changes of pregnancy.
One, two hour class.
Choices in Childbirth
A comprehensive childbirth class focusing on how the know labor is coming, the stages and phases of labor, pain coping techniques, massage, the importance of movement in labor, navigating medical options, newborn procedures, breast feeding, and an introduction to the first hours and days postpartum. Class is a combination of lecture, video presentation, and hands on practice.
Four, 2 hours classes.
A comprehensive childbirth class taught in a weekend. If you are short on time but can dedicate 2 weekend days to learning about birth, this class is for you!
All day Saturday and Sunday class.
Labor is physically and emotionally challenging. This class will build on your comprehensive knowledge of how labor unfoldsand give you more time to practice positions, massage, pain coping techniques, and comfort measures with your labor support person.
One, 2 hour class.
A great refresher course designed for couples that have a working knowledge of the stages of labor. This class will combine pain coping practices and art as a method of reflection and introspection.
Two, 2 hour classes.
Choosing to give birth at home with the support of a midwife is an option on Nantucket. This class addresses the unique needs of a woman preparing to give birth at home. A complete class focusing on pain coping techniques, the role of the support person, relaxation, breath work, massage, understanding complications and how they are addressed at home, breastfeeding, welcoming the newborn, and the birth of the parents are all addressed in this class.
